This building houses the collection of 20th century art and will soon be expanded to include sculptures, but there is definitely a gallery that should not be overlooked: the Muslim Library. Located in the heart of the city, just a few blocks from the Greek Orthodox Cathedral, this building houses the largest collection of ancient and modern Greek art and literature in Rhodes. Primed, it could be interesting for many tourists to visit Rhodes: it shows that the contemporary cultural life of Rhodes is developing and a new sight is being created to enlarge its upscale tourist audience.

The Archaeological Museum of Rhodes is housed in a medieval building that served as a hospital for the Knights of St John. This is definitely a place to see and for those who love palaces, a good thing: it is definitely one of my favorite places in Rhodes.

The exploration of ancient Greece and Rome should go beyond the traditional boundaries of classical disciplines and assume the role of an academic field influenced by the cultural achievements of the Greeks and Romans. There are so many incredible and good things to do in Rhodes that you will be spoilt for choice. There are a number of beautiful islands to visit, but Santorini, Crete and Corfu are named after the most famous artists of the 20th century, such as Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo. Frankly, if you have no love for art, you may find it the best thing to do in Rhodes, even if it is only for a few hours.

The settlement became an important centre of the Bronze Age, when the island was home to the Minoan civilisation of Crete, and later, in the 5th century BC, Rhodes became part of the Delian League, which was led by Athens and later dominated by it. The Persian rule began in 490 BC and after that the island came under Persian rule. Perhaps the most important archaeological sites on this island are those that have moved to Rhodes from other parts of Greece such as Santorini, Corfu and Santo Domingo.
